I can't understand how the 50 tea party members in the house can dictate anything. There are 247 Republicans in the house and 188 democrats. Even with the ridicules Hastert rule all it takes for the republicans to bring a vote to the floor is 124 votes which is a majority of the republicans. And with just 94 democrats you have a majority. If you assume that all of the 50 crazy tea baggers vote no that still leaves 197 republicans left to vote for a bill. So again, how can these people continue to block things?
